The Department of Informatics Engineering commenced in September 1999 under the name Department of Applied Informatics and Multimedia until June 2013, when it changed its name. Staffed by permanent faculty, its administration and modules have been established and are fully operational.
Department’s Structure and Administration
The Department is divided into three specializations:
- Network Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Software Engineering
The General Assembly is composed of the Head of the Departmet the Department’s Faculty Members and Students’ Representatives.
Department’s Secretariat
The Department’s Secretariat is hosted on the 1st floor at the New STEF Building (opening hours: Monday and Thursday 11.00-13.00). Ms Chrisoula Koumaki and Aphrodite Fanouraki are the secretaries of the Department.
Scope
The Department of Informatics Engineering of the TEI in Crete covers all scopes of IT, Telecommunications and Multimedia, sectors of vital importance for the evolving information Society.
With the training provided, the Department aims at its graduates to have on one hand a complete knowledge of new technologies and on the other hand the expertise required to meet the immediate needs of a very large and dynamically growing market. This market includes application and software development companies, internet service providers, telecommunication companies, etc.
