Dr. Michael Kalogerakis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (H.M.U.) and a Researcher in the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Systems Engineering of the same School.
He is also a Researcher at the Institute of Energy, Environment and Climate Change in the University Research Center of H.M.U. as well as a Collaborating Researcher in the Wave Propagation Group of the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of the Institute of Technology and Research (IACM/ FORTH).
He received his B.Sc. from the Department of Mathematics in University of Crete and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Clarkson University in New York U.S.A. His Ph.D. dissertation entitled “Linear Solvers on Multiprocessor Machines” has been included in the database of the U.S. Department of Energy / Scientific and Technical Information Service (www.osti.gov – OSTI ID: 6624863).
His research interests focus on usability engineering, human-machine interaction, agile software development methods and wave propagation. In the last twenty-five years he has participated in a series of International, European and Greek Research programs in relevant subject areas and frameworks (indicatively DAMOCLES-IP / ESPRIT / FP6 / MAST / Archimedes etc.).
He is author of numerous articles, reports and monographs published in internationally recognized scientific journals, reviewed conference proceedings, book volumes, etc. as well as a series of class notes on various courses at the Universities of Patras and Crete as well as at H.M.U. Through IACM/FORTH he has collaborated with the Hellenic Navy for the design and development of an autonomous integrated system for the analysis of underwater schemes for passive and active acoustic detection which has been installed in frigates and submarines of the Greek fleet.
In other administrative work, he has been chairman and member in several committees as well as chairman and deputy chairman of the Division of Computer Science in the Department of Sciences of the former TEI of Crete
