Course Outline

 

he program ‘Informatics Engineering’ is organised into three semesters. In the first two semesters candidates develop their academic skills by attending advanced courses / modules, each carrying the weight of 7,5 ECTS units.

All courses have a weekly workload of 5 hours which is split into theory and laboratory coursework. In the third semester candidates undertake a master thesis which is conceived as a research-oriented inquiry into a designated domain of interest.

From offered courses of the first two semesters of study, two (2) of them are required (one per semester) and six (6) are elective (three per semester) from the total of 14 courses of this study program.

Furthermore, there are 3 specializations: a) Network Engineering and Multimedia, b)Software Technology and Applications , c) Intelligent Systems and Computer Architecture.  In order for a student to obtain a specialization, 4 out of the 6 courses must be from the same specialization.

At the end of the third semester candidates are expected to support their thesis in front of a review commitee and in accordance with established academic practices. The master’s thesis commands 30 ECTS units and could provide the grounds for further postgraduate-level research.
